I love that every Christian is uniting in this important issue! My favorite line from this was that marriage needs to be strengthened not redefined! What did you like?

Tolerance is an interesting word. I think, though, it is used incorrectly here. We do tolerate people, all kinds of people, with different beliefs, customs, and lifestyles. However, that's not the same as tolerating behavior. If one believes that homosexuality is genetic, then there isn't much to discuss because our foundations are so different. But if you profess to be a Christian, of any denomination; if you believe that God is our Father in Heaven and through His son, Jesus Christ we can, through the blessings of the atonement return to Him one day, then a few things about His doctrine need to be cleared up.

First, homosexuality is a sin. Scriptures declare it. If you disagree, that's fine, but then you deny His word given through living prophets. Second, there is no sin for which our loving Heavenly Father does not provide a way for us to overcome. It may be difficult, but not insurmountable. If we can overcome sin, then sin is a choice. It is true that we are all born with tendencies that we must master and overcome with the help of God. Anger, shyness, weakness, addictions of all sorts, and homesexuality are just some of the crosses we must
bear. As we become masters of the carnal, self-serving part of ourselves, we become more like Him. We shouldn't tolerate any behaviors that draw us away from that.

That in no way means we treat them poorly. On the contrary, we should extend to them an even greater arm of fellowship and charity, as we do all who succumb to sin, in the hopes that they may gain a testimony of this Gospel and come unto Christ. We love all of our brothers and sisters, but that doesn't mean we should tolerate poor choices.

The world teaches that if it doesn't hurt anyone, then God must be OK with it. That is a secular philosophy. Marriage IS ordained of God and we should do all that we can to preserve His view of it. I am a son of God. I will vote YES on Prop. 8.
